The 1,750 square foot enclave is enveloped on three sides with sparkling two-story glass. Natural light illuminates its interior by showcasing the natural beauty that surrounds it. Completely private and set off the main lobby, the new space can accommodate up to 96 seated guests or up to 120 guests for a reception-style event.

Endless views of the Pacific coastline serve as a reminder that The Conservatory is purposefully aligned with ocean research and conservation. This new ocean view venue has formed a strategic alliance with the Schmidt Ocean Institute to assist in amplifying their state-of-the-art efforts toward oceanic research and education. In addition, The Conservatory will offer clientele hosting events specialty menus tailored to their specific tastes as well as a unique eco-conscious menu consisting of selections from land and sea identified by conservationists as both wild and overly abundant.

“The Conservatory at Hotel Casa del Mar will deliver exceptional events and meetings,” stated Max Jonas, General Manager at Hotel Casa del Mar in a statement. “The creation of this spectacular ocean view venue also affords us an exciting opportunity to raise awareness for organizations whose focus is oceanic research, education, and the preservation of the ocean’s biodiversity. Throughout the next year we will host ocean forward events and feature a special menu of wild species from land and sea that are considered overly abundant by conservationists.”

Hotel Casa del Mar will partner with the Schmidt Ocean Institute on an event series, details to be released in October, and has identified both local and national charities slated to benefit from events at The Conservatory. Schmidt Ocean Institute was established in 2009 by Eric and Wendy Schmidt to catalyze the discoveries needed to understand our ocean, sustain life, and ensure the health of our planet through the pursuit of impactful scientific research and intelligent observation, technological advancement, open sharing of information, and public engagement at the highest levels of international excellence. Other charities that The Conservatory will support include The Bay Foundation and Philippe Cousteau’s organization EarthEcho International, among others.

The Conservatory will open in late October 2023.

The Conservatory is located at 1910 Ocean Way, Santa Monica, CA 90405.
