According to a recently filed ABC application, lauded Spanish restaurant Teleferic Barcelona will open its seventh outpost at 6420 E Pacific Coast Highway — at the 2nd & PCH shopping plaza — in the former Hungry Angelina space. Matthew Kenney’s vegan-based eatery shuttered its doors back in 2022 following the closure of his Brooklyn flagship operation of the same name.

Teleferic Barcelona’s true beginnings started in 1992 in San Cugat, Spain, where the Padrosa family opened their first restaurant. From there, siblings Xavi and Maria Padrosa, who worked in their parents’ eatery for years, branched out to open their own location in the center of Barcelona.

After moving to the Bay Area on a tennis scholarship (and falling in love with the States), Xavi enlisted the help of his sister — an expert interior designer — and the two lengthened the tale of Teleferic Barcelona.

Today, the restaurant has a handful of locations in LA, the Bay Area, and, of course, the team’s native country of Spain.

Centered around Spain’s rich and romantic culinary traditions, Teleferic Barcelona incorporates a modern aspect that offers a festive and casual atmosphere accompanied by tapas, paellas, sangria, and crafted cocktails.

It’s presently unknown when Teleferic Barcelona’s Long Beach iteration will open.
