Mexico City’s restaurant group, Grupo Carolo, and California-based Eureka! Restaurant Group announced the opening of its fifth La Popular CDMX US location in Porter Ranch, California. The Mexican restaurant, located in The Vineyards at Porter Ranch, is anchored by authentic dishes from Mexico City with a modern twist, an extensive agave-centric cocktail program and warm hospitality set in a lush, contemporary space.

La Popular’s menu highlights include Quesabirria Tacos with braised brisket and beef shank, Manchego, consommé; cilantro, and onions; Al Pastor Enchiladas with marinated pork and melted cheese, Chile de arbol salsa and pineapple, cilantro and onions; and Ribeye or Adobo Prawns Fajitas with charred jalapenos, onions, bell pepper, melted Manchego cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo and sour cream. The dessert menu includes the Churros with chocolate ganache and caramel or the Tres Leches with torched meringue, vanilla ice cream, and caramel.

La Popular’s cocktail menu is led by Vice President of Beverage Operations Trevor Tyler. Cocktails include classics like LP Margarita with Monte Alban Silver tequila, agave, lime and Cointreau; Paloma with Monte Alban Reposado tequila and housemade grapefruit soda along with bespoke craft cocktails such as Oaxacan Jellyfish with Dakabend Oaxacan rum, pineapple, lime, blue lemongrass, coconut cream and served with a lemongrass smoke bubble; and Desert Rose with hibiscus lime infused Monte Alban Silver tequila, Del Maguey Vida mezcal, cinnamon infused Licor 43, prickly pear, pomegranate and lemon. La Popular houses a selection of agave spirits encompassing more than 80 labels of tequila and mezcal including blancos, reposados, añejos, extra añejos, cristalinos and rosas along with mezcals ranging from espadín, jabali, mexicano, tepextate, and more. The collection features rare Mexican spirits, as well as emerging artisan products sourced from a variety of small-batch distilleries in Oaxaca, Jalisco, and Guadalajara.

The lush and contemporary 4500+square foot interiors transport locals to an exotic getaway with ambient lighting, brass details, and greenery inspired by Mexico’s tropical surroundings. Guests desiring an al fresco experience can do so in the 38-seat patio with an indoor/outdoor bar. True to La Popular’s brand, guests will be able to spot their signature disco ball in the center of the restaurant and be able to watch as the chefs make each tortilla in the exhibition kitchen. A custom neon sign is also featured in the dining room, which varies for each La Popular restaurant.

La Popular is located at 20065 West Rinaldi Street Suite 110, Porter Ranch, CA 91326 and is open Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight. Happy hour is available Monday – Friday from 3 – 6 p.m. with deals on draft beer, wine, margaritas and select appetizers and tacos.
