Onyx, a mixed-use development at 424 W Pico Blvd, is home to the new Macchiato.

The café quietly debuted mid-November in Suite 2, a corner space fronting Pico, and an official grand opening, like the one recently held for the company’s new San Marcos coffee house, is forthcoming.

“The idea behind Macchiato is to take regular coffee and add a new twist to it,” according to the company’s website.

“Macchiato combines coffee with art through a relaxing and comfortable environment, with the goal of presenting the taste of happiness.”

Across its 40-item menu are coffees, teas, desserts, and “snacks” like popcorn chicken, tater tots, and fries.

Macchiato is one of two known tenants in Jade Enterprises’ Onyx apartments joining the soon-to-open 9Round kickboxing.

9Round is expected to come online before the end of 2019 in the seven-story, 162 residential unit multifamily midrise at the southeast corner of Pico Boulevard and Hope Street

At least two additional Macchiato locations, in Chino and Fullerton, are planned and expected to debut in 2020.

Monterey Park and Santa Ana house the company’s first two coffee houses.
