The mesmeric, art-centric adventure has a maiden operation in San Antonio, Texas featuring an array of eccentric, mind-bending exhibitions, a full bar, a large patio, a food truck, and a gift shop all spread throughout the space’s 20,000 square feet.

Per Hopscotch’s website, the brand’s beverage program features “specialty cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic [drinks] that are carefully selected and inspired by installations throughout the space.”

What’s more, Hopscotch’s food menu is a rotating highlight reel of flavors and snacks from local vendors.

Edit: Co-Founder Nicole Jensen tells What Now Los Angeles that she and Inman “will be doing all of our own food in-house so there won’t be rotating food trucks like our San Antonio location.”

The West Harbor development website predicts a 2024 opening for the massive project which will include 42 acres and one mile of direct waterfront access; over 150,000 square feet of retail, restaurants, and entertainment; four acres of outdoor park and recreation space; harbor-side excursions and attractions; a huge courtesy dock to accommodate boats; and a 6,200-seat amphitheater (under environmental review).

Comment from Hopscotch Co-Founder Hunter Inman is forthcoming.

This article has been updated to include an interview with Hunter Inman and Nicole Jensen; photos have also been updated to show Hopscotch’s installations.

WNLA: How did Hopscotch pair up with West Harbor development in San Pedro?

H: The West Harbor development reached out to us early on in the process to be an anchor tenant in Phase I. They were exploring options all over the country to find the right fit for the experience-forward development.

It was really important for us to find the right partners in our expansion, and developers who are not only good humans, but are genuinely excited and curious about the possibilities of the arts-entertainment space that we play in.

We found this and more with the developer of the West Harbor project. We are extremely excited, not only for the community to experience Hopscotch in San Pedro, but to see the rest of this incredible project come to life. We are extremely grateful to be a part of it.

WNLA: How will the San Pedro location differ from Hopscotch’s maiden operation?

H: We approach each Hopscotch location as its own unique offering. Everything from the curation of local, regional, and international artists, the food and drink programming, architecture, and experience design will have its own identity in San Pedro.

Each location will have its own energy and one that matches the scale and excitement of the West Harbor project, but also one that integrates into the talent-rich community of artists and makers in Southern California.

WNLA: How do you think Hopscotch will be received here in LA? Why do you think it’s a good fit?

N: We think that L.A. will absolutely love immersing themselves in a new level of experiential and interactive art at Hopscotch. Like us, the people in SoCal are naturally driven by creative and artistic forces, love technology, embrace individualism, and enjoy a laid-back atmosphere.

Hopscotch will be the perfect compliment to the already eccentric and unique communities that thrive in the region, we hope that the people here are just as excited as we are to go on this experiential journey together.

WNLA: What will the San Pedro Hopscotch lounge entail?

H&J: Our lounge will have an electric and eclectic energy that matches the installations and our brand. The food and beverage programs are meticulously designed to in turn compliment the gallery and also stand proudly on their own.

At Hopscotch we consider our chefs and beverage designers to be artists in their own right and focus on providing our guests with a holistic, artistic experience that touches on all of the senses. Our menus are flavorful and fun, playful and crave-able, nostalgic and unexpected.

For those guests that are visiting the gallery, it is the icing on the cake; for those that only have time to swing into the lounge, it’s the perfect place to catch a vibe and a teaser for them to come back for more.

Pair all of the above with the other complimentary businesses, the boardwalk, and the beautiful sun and surf that is just outside of our front door, and West Harbor at San Pedro is the perfect place to lose yourself for a few hours.
