Located at 812 S. Arroyo Parkway, the new restaurant is just a few doors down from the popular Nashville-style hot chicken restaurant Howlin’ Ray’s. Because of this, Pasadena’s Slab Barbecue will not be offering fried chicken at this location. Instead, the owner plans to collaborate with Howlin’ Rays, possibly with Slab’s beef ribs, according to Bakman.

“When you sit down at SLAB and taste the marbled brisket for the first time or strike up a conversation over a shared plate of food, you’ll know this experience has been worth the wait,” reads their website.

Slab’s original location at 8136 W 3rd St. opened in November 2018 behind Bakman and h.wood group’s Brian Toll. Before launching this restaurant, Bakman built his reputation at Trudy’s Underground Barbecue, where his skills with the smoker gained the attention of many Los Angeles foodies. Both locations will serve top-quality ribs and brisket.
