At the age of 33, founder Khalil Rafati found himself not only homeless but hopeless. A Skid Row resident and drug addict, he eventually threw in the towel and decided to get sober.
Though heroin and cocaine were now things of the past, they were quickly replaced with cigarettes, junk food, and energy drinks — a concoction that left Rafati feeling constantly depressed.
Enter juicing and superfoods.
It was around this time that Rafati began traveling for, experimenting with, and obsessing over the best foods nature has to offer. Today, he and business partner Hayley Gorcey helm not a juice bar, but “an experience fueled by the simple but profound joy of human connection and an unrelenting commitment to quality.”
Fortunately, come this fall, the pair will open two more LA locations, one in Calabasas (23643 Calabasas Road, opening in September) and the other in Brentwood (Brentwood Town Center, opening in October).
SunLife’s menu offers signature shakes, smoothies, bowls, shots, coffee, tea, fresh juice, granola bars, and gourmet toasts both savory & sweet.
