The Japanese eatery on December 16 is hosting a grand opening, slinging its handroll and cut-roll sushi, and new-to-the-menu build-your-own bento boxes, at 1542 N. Cahuenga, in space formerly occupied by Kebbros and Demitasse before that.

“Our crisp and modern build-your-own bento boxes are infused with a sense of simple wonder,” K2 Restaurants, Supertoro’s parent company, Friday wrote in an email to patrons.

During its opening, Supertoro is offering the first 50 guests in line a free bento box and the first 50 guests to follow and tag @thesupertoro on Instagram will receive a $10 voucher.

Both free-food activities are applicable on Monday only.

There is, however, a way to score freebie eats ahead of the Hollywood opening next week. The restaurant is hiding gift cards in bento boxes at its Santa Monica location in celebration of the forthcoming storefront.

Supertoro’s expansion doesn’t stop in Hollywood.

K2 Restaurants is bringing the Japanese eatery to Echo Park soon, at 1485 Sunset Blvd, in Brick Works.

Supertoro joins the previously-announced HiroNori Craft Ramen and Stereoscope Coffee Co. in the new adaptive reuse development, comprised of several transformed mid-century buildings with more than 15,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
