The well-known chicken shop that started in East Hollywood is getting ready to add the 32nd location in a 2,240 square-foot space. Dave’s Hot Chicken has several other new locations in the works across the country, including in Houston, Mira Mesa, San Bernadino, Lakewood, Deerborn, Plano, Denver, Santa Ana, Santa Rosa, and Menifee. The franchise recently made a 20-location agreement with DAMM Fine Chicken to open 20 new locations through Central California.

“During this exciting period of growth, we want to partner with experienced and qualified franchise partners to help accelerate our momentum. The DAMM Fine Chicken team fits that bill perfectly,” says Bill Phelps, CEO of Dave’s Hot Chicken. “Their experience will be crucial as Dave’s Hot Chicken continues its expansion throughout California.”

The new Dave’s Hot Chicken will replace Starbucks next to T-Mobile. The original location began as a pop-up shop in early 2017 by classically-trained chef Dave Kopushyan and three friends, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan. They quickly gained the attention of both locals and media and exploded in popularity in the coming years.

Dave’s Hot Chicken specializes in Nashville-style hot chicken, created with Dave’s own mix of spices ranging from “Mild” to “The Reaper.” There is no official opening date for the Torrance location. There will soon be a little less than a dozen Dave’s Hot Chicken’s in and around Los Angeles, with Culver City being the current closest one to the new location.
