Downtown Long Beach’s Beachwood Brewing, located at 210 East Third Street on The Promenade, will soon be taken over by Ian McCall’s ISM Brewing. McCall, who served as a brewer at Beachwood from 2011 to 2018, has a repertoire of beer knowledge under his belt, ensuring the beloved space will be in good hands.

“As many of you know, I cut my teeth and honed my professional brewing chops at Beachwood BBQ and Brewing…making this a true ‘homecoming’ for me,” McCall recollected via Instagram. “I am honored to be able to continue to brew world-class beer in this well-known, widely respected, and time-tested facility.”
McCall says he will provide additional details in the coming weeks.
As for Beachwood, the brand will barely fizzle as they have a plethora of iterations throughout Orange County with taprooms in beer-loving cities such as Huntington Beach and Garden Grove. Additionally, their Long Beach presence will remain strong as their 2nd & PCH, Bixby Knolls, and Long Beach Boulevard outposts will remain open.
Just a day ago, the team penned this heartfelt adieu to their Facebook:
“More than 12 years ago we set out on a journey to brew expertly crafted beer. We started that journey in Downtown Long Beach. Having served as the cornerstone and flagship of our operations for over a decade, the Downtown Long Beach brewpub holds a special place in Beachwood’s history. It has witnessed our growth, facilitated our success, and provided a vibrant space for countless conversations, lifelong friends, and memorable events. However, as part of our strategic plans to expand and diversify our operations, we made the decision to sell our much-loved downtown location. While bidding farewell is not an easy decision, we are confident and excited for the future.”
Beachwood’s last week will be October 23 – October 29.
