Kiso, an LGBTQ+ bar and club, is slated to open by April 2024 at 107 W 4th St., formerly home to Score and Bar 107. Owner Brad Nitz said they are working on getting final approvals on paperwork.

Nitz explained that the venue will have three rooms, each with a distinct personality. “The front room will be a light and airy space where you can have a conversation over happy hour and craft cocktails, served on the original bar that was built for the Barclay Hotel. The middle room will have more of a loungey vibe with comfortable seating and dimmer lighting. And in the back room there’s a big dance floor and entertainment area where we’ll host events and shows.”

Drinks will start at around $12 for a basic cocktail and hours are 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. There is no kitchen, but they may offer some light snacks.

Nitz also currently manages the Redline, another popular gay bar in DTLA that recently announced it’s closing next March. “We host a lot of events for the community at Redline and plan to carry that over to Kiso. We’ll have drag shows, DJs, dance parties, maybe even an open mic night. Since we have three rooms, we’d want to host fundraisers and private events as well.”

Before Kiso was conceived, 107 W 4th St. sat empty for more than eight years. “The most exciting thing about this space is that it used to be downtown’s oldest gay bar, Score. Now, the community is reclaiming it and we can’t wait to invite everyone in.”
