Previously housed inside North Hollywood’s The Federal bar and restaurant, which also closed its doors in the new year, Knitting Factory will be reborn in DTLA’s Arts District, Knitting Factory Entertainment (KFE) CEO and president Morgan Margolis told Los Angeles magazine. While Margolis didn’t reveal the exact location, he did say the new venue will be comparable in size to NoHo’s with a capacity of around 300 people.

Most of Knitting Factory’s 2024 lineup will be moving to DTLA in March, while earlier booked shows will take place elsewhere. That said, Margolis is hopeful that a last-minute partnership could come through for the NoHo space. “There may be a save, but not as the Federal. We’ll see,” he told Los Angeles magazine.

Margolis is also as a partner in several Los Angeles area venues including El Tejano, Cantiki, Thirsty Merchant and The Regent Downtown.

KFE started in 1987 as a single New York City venue and has since grown into a national entertainment business with a portfolio of hospitality, music and event brands.

Margolis could not be immediately reached for comment.
