The new 1,795 square-foot cafe will replace Calabrese Cafe in Spring or Summer 2022. It’s an excellent spot for the San Francisco-based coffee shop, which will become the only coffee shop at The Summit at Calabasas Shopping Center. This will become the western-most Philz Coffee in Los Angeles County, with the next closest locations in Studio City and Santa Monica. CEO Jacob Jaber is also working on opening a new location in Beverly Hills.

Philz Coffee was started in San Francisco’s Mission District in 2003 by Jacob and his father, Phil Jaber. Before the duo started the coffee shop, Phil spent over 25 years building relationships with the community while working at a corner store. In keeping with the close-knit community relationship he created, he started Philz Coffee, making drip coffee “one cup at a time,” creating a unique cafe experience.

Now, coffee lovers can find 69 other Philz Coffee locations across the country, including in Washington, Maryland, Illinois, and Virginia. There’s no surprise why the company has been able to expand so far in only two decades. Each hand-crafted cup of coffee is specifically tailored to each customer’s liking. The baristas will assist all customers in deciding what drink they want and how sweet they want it. Popular choices include Tesora, Mint Mojito Iced Coffee, and Jacob’s Wonderbar.
