Hot on the heels of the closure of Lisa Vanderpump’s WeHo eatery, Pump, Southend Pizza Bar owners Mario Vollera and Patrick Brunet are bringing their Roosterfish concept to the vacated space at 8948 Santa Monica Boulevard.

“The historic queer bar [located on Abbot Kinney] has been a staple of the early LGBTQ scene in Venice for more than 40 years,” explains Eater LA. In 2016, the bar quickly closed before being picked up by Vollera and Brunet, and now, the lauded joint seems to be thriving.

If all goes according to plan, the incoming Roosterfish will be open in September and will offer “a light menu of Italian bites,” unlike its Venice sister store that strictly slings cocktails, beer, and wine.

Some of Roosterfish’s notable concoctions include the Sunburn, which combines pineapple rum, habanero shrub, pineapple, lime, and amaro nonino — an Italian herbal liqueur made with the infusion of herbs and ennobled by aged grape distillate — and El Padrino, a mixture of reposado, goat milk, and cacao.

As for Vanderpump, her Los Angeles eateries Sur and Tom Tom are still afloat, undoubtedly reaping the benefits of her reality show’s success and scandal. She’s also begun to open restaurants in Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe.
