Housing Previte’s Michelin-starred, Washington DC-based restaurant Maydan; a second iteration of her DC eatery Compass Rose; and five “up and coming local LA food concepts,” Maydan Market’s 10,000 square feet will be wholly globally inspired, borrowing from markets worldwide and boasting a shared live-fire hearth. Maydan Market will be open all day, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
At Maydan LA “diners can anticipate Syrian-spiced lamb shoulder, honey-soaked dates sprinkled with coarse salt, and plenty of shareable spreads like hummus and muhammara paired with the restaurant’s signature hearth-fired flatbreads,” explains Eater.
However, Compass Rose will differ quite a bit from its DC location. “We’re going to adapt some of the street food items to more of a breakfast feel,” says Previte via Eater.
The LA Compass Rose will “include a coffee bar, full-service bar, and a communal dining room that expands indoors and out,” but will only be open for breakfast and lunch.
Maydan Market will be in partnership with Fundrise, “a Washington, D.C.-based financial technology company best known for crowdfunding real estate investments.” The operation was founded by Ben and Daniel Miller, with Ben presently operating as CEO.
According to Previte via Eater, Fundrise approached her to develop their properties on West Jefferson when they realized she was bicoastal, sharing her time between Venice, CA, and Washington, DC.
