The company’s ninth location will come through the acquisition of Gamehaus Cafe in Glendale, via ownership of the outstanding SBA loan. California’s first board game cafe was established in 2013 by Rob Cron and Terry Chiu as a way to gather with friends. It had over 1400 board games with good food and drink options. Now, Snakes & Lattes, founded by Ben Castanie, will take over the spot while remaining open during the transition. The company hopes to fully pivot with a new general manager by Summer 2022.

Snakes & Lattes was founded in 2010 and currently operates nine tabletop gaming bars and cafes with three located in Canada. The company has another four locations throughout the United States, with two in Arizona and one in Illinois and Utah. When the new Glendale location opens, guests can expect hundreds of classic and new board games to be enjoyed with a meal or beverage. Some options from the menu include poutine, flatbread pizzas, handhelds, and various soups, salads, appetizers, and entrees.

“I met Terry and Rob back in 2012 and have incredible respect for what they have built. It’s beautiful! Castanie said in a press release. “We plan to capitalize on this great location in the LA area. It currently holds 100 seats plus a beer & wine license. Plans to further increase capacity by expanding and turning the adjacent space into retail space have started. We are thrilled this will be our first location in California and could not be more excited about this acquisition. It is just an awesome spot for food and gaming!”
