The restaurant made the announcement earlier this year and had aimed to open by Summer 2021. Despite early reports, the restaurant has yet to open its doors and hopes to launch by the end of November 2021, co-owner Ryan Gowhari tells What Now Los Angeles. The new restaurant will be replacing Taste at the Palisades, which closed last year. Ryan’s father, and co-owner Ray Gowhari, took over Spruzzo Cafe back in 1993 and renamed it Spruzzo Restaurant and Bar.

The new restaurant will offer the same Italian cuisine as the original location. Specialty pizzas and pasta are the highlights of their menu, both with gluten-free substitution options. The restaurant also boasts its generous portion sizes for all of their dishes. To help wash everything down, Spruzzo offers an extensive cocktail, beer, and wine list. Despite the many restaurants in Malibu, Spruzzo is the only Italian restaurant in Malibu with an ocean view and an outdoor heated patio with fire pits.

“After 26 years of serving Malibu, we are excited to announce that Spruzzo Restaurant & Bar is expanding into the Pacific Palisades,” co-owner Ryan Gowhari said in a press release. “We hope to bring the sense of community and comfort that Spruzzo customers have grown accustomed to, while maintaining the same standards of quality and love for cooking. To the City of Palisades – we are here to serve you!”

Correction: A previous article neglected to mention Ryan Gowhari to co-own the new restaurant.
