This will become the second full-bar location for The Chicken Koop, with the first opening in Alhambra in 2019. All of their specialty drinks are made in-house with fresh ingredients. Along with the drinks, The Chicken Koop also serves mouth-watering chicken sandwiches with your choice of specialty sauce. The trio of owners opened the original Whittier location at 12824 Hadley St. #105 in 2016. The company also plans to open a fourth location in Montebello around Feb. 2022. The newest location will be the furthest south location to date.

The new Chicken Koop will replace the Downey Wedding Chapel in August 2022, according to Moreno. When they open, customers can expect the roasted chicken and various dipping sauces found at the other three locations. Popular dishes include roasted chicken plates, fried chicken sandwiches, loaded nachos, poutine, and pozole soup. The local micro chain also offers weekend brunch with fried chicken and bottomless mimosas until 3 pm.

Despite the Instagram-worthy-looking food, the restaurant will have some local and national competition in the area. KFC will be right around the corner from the new restaurant, while Crimson Coward, Pioneer Chicken, and Legend Hot Chicken all down the street. The restaurant will have to use their specials to attract new customers, such as free roasted chicken with a purchase of a whole chicken meal, available at their South El Monte location.

CORRECTION: The previous article misstated this would become the fifth location for the company. A fourth Montebello location is opening early next year, making this their fifth location.
