“As the new gathering place in the Valley, offering a combination of world-class shops and restaurants, our objective is to provide guests with a balanced mix of places to eat, and shop for food, fashion, health and wellness,” John Usdan, Chief Executive Officer of property owner Midwood Investment & Development, said in a statement.

The Shops sits on 95,000 square feet of space at 12863 Ventura Boulevard, formerly occupied by an event center associated with Studio City’s famed Sportsmen’s Lodge hotel. Anchored by an Equinox fitness center and the San Fernando Valley’s only Erewhon Market, The Shops is slated to begin opening in September. Other tenants will include Civil Coffee, Madison Reed, Myodetox, Roberta’s Pizza, and over a dozen more.

Openings for the five newcomers to The Shops will be rolled out over the next few months. Next Health, SUGARFISH, HiHo Cheeseburger and UOVO will all launch in the fall, while Rolling Greens will open in early 2022.

For Rolling Greens co-owner Greg Salmeri, Studio City was the perfect fit for the next location of the Downtown Los Angeles-based interior plantscape and home decor retailer, partly because many of its existing customers are moving there.

“We’ve always liked the area, and I know it’s up-and-coming,” Salmeri said. “We were looking at opportunities and when this one came up it was the right one for us.”

Rolling Greens already has locations in Culver City and Beverly Grove in addition to its DTLA headquarters. The Studio City Rolling Greens will span two levels and include a wine bar, apothecary, workshop space and a rooftop outdoor garden. It will offer an equal amount of plants or containers and home furnishings, a combination that Salmeri predicts will work well for the Studio City market.

“I think that what will be different is that we will have more of a sort of combination of our Culver City and our Beverly Grove stores,” Salmeri said. “What’s important is that our stores are indigenous to our areas — we want to do what we think is the right mix for the people of that area and for us this was that right mix.”

Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated the total square footage of The Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge as 94,000 square feet and its opening date as this past June. The Shops is 95,000 square feet and it will be opening officially in September.

I love the new Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge. It is such a beautiful center. I’ve been there several times. I’m not a fan of the Erewhon cult and their strange policies, but the rest of the offerings are great.

I am very impressed with this new shopping center. There is a very cool vibe going on. The architecture and landscaping are very high quality. I agree with the OP about Erewhon. That place is no longer hip in LA and people are done with their $26 watermelons, but overall there is great shopping at this center.
