Although the company has dozens of locations across California, this will only be the eighth site in Los Angeles County. Franchisees Rashad Randle and Johnnie Moore, who previously opened the company’s 32nd location in Monrovia, will be in charge of this new location coming to The Shops On Lake Avenue, replacing Tokyo Shabu Shabu. The duo tells What Now Los Angeles they hope to open the new Chronic Tacos at the end of the month, possibly early November 2022.

Chronic Tacos was founded in 2002 by Randy Wyner and Dan Biello. Since opening, the duo has expanded internationally and launched a franchise program that allows the company to grow even faster. Now, Chronic Tacos has at least one location in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Washington. On top of that, the company has five locations in Canada and three in Tokyo. Now, Randle and Moore are getting ready to bring California-inspired Mexican classics to Pasadena.

“Randy and Dan grew up in Orange County, California, where you could find a Mexican taqueria on every corner,” according to the company’s website. “The food was great, but they knew there was an opportunity to create a taco shop with not only authentic Mexican food, but with a unique vibe inspired by their Southern California roots. Inspired by badass, 3rd generation recipes, a laid-back experience with an irresistible edge, and personal, friendly service -the Taco Life movement continues to spread across the nation.”
