New Long Beach Restaurant Will Host Special Events With Unforgettable Views

The Modern occupies an atmospheric room overlooking Long Beach Airport, which will now serve as a restaurant.

The Loft and The Modern are two locations hosting special events for weddings, corporate events, and parties–the latter of the two will soon serve as a restaurant with an incredible view. The owner, Mary Lallande, spoke with What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) about this unique addition to the LA restaurant scene.

Lallande first opened an event space in San Juan, but has expanded her business to include The Loft and The Modern. It was only recently that she decided to do something new by adding a restaurant element to The Modern.

“We get hungry everyday so why not make it a restaurant,” Lallande told WNLA.

Lallande always specialized in events, but this is her first go at a full fledged restaurant and it’s already a tough competitor. Located at 2801 E Spring St., which you might already recognize as being right next to Long Beach Airport, The Modern is a spacious and atmospheric location. The all white, well lit space overlooks the runway, and a terrace with the capacity of 90 people offers outdoor dining.

In fact, you can fly in by your private jet and have a party–and then leave without ever touching Long Beach’s public ground. It’s a lot of light and a lot of space, as design focusing on comfort and beauty–Lallande strives to make the food match it.

“For us, opening a restaurant is something new. We’ve done event spaces for over a decade. We’re in the business of events and design.” The Modern hopes to open its restaurant sometime in October. As of right now, there are no plans for future locations.

The Loft, located at 230 Pine Ave in Downtown Long Beach, sits inside an old Masonic Temple built in 1903. While it’s the oldest building standing on Vine, The Loft has been fully restored without losing its charm.

The Loft can house a seating arrangement of up to 200 people and a standing cocktail event of 300.
