Soprano, an old school Italian eatery from the Culinary Lab team—Blackship, Hinoki & the Bird, Rosaline—is slated to open for the first time Thursday, December 12.
But not to the public, a spokesperson for the restaurant Thursday told What Now Los Angeles in an email.
The restaurant, at 6263 Hollywood Blvd., is getting its feet wet with various friends and family events ahead of an “official” grand opening on Tuesday, December 17.
Soprano is situated in a 7,000-square-foot corner space at Hollywood and Vine along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
It replaces the now-shuttered 33 Taps Bar & Grill in space that was originally home to The Bank of Hollywood, circa 1929 (pictured below).
American Airlines occupied the building in the 1950s and 60s.
Hinoki & the Bird Chef Brandon Kida leads the Soprano kitchen, creating a menu made up of shareable starters, plates of pasta, and traditional Italian pizzas.
Appetizers include traditional Italian fare such as meatballs, crudo, calamari and a chop salad while signature pastas include gnudi, rigatoni bolognese and fettuccini cacio e pepe.
The pizza menu includes The Bill Murray with spinach, mozzarella and parmesan, The Rodney Dangerfield, a white pizza with bechamel, caramelized onions, Neuski’s bacon, and mozzarella, and The John Wayne with pepperoni, mozzarella, and local honey.
Soprano’s bar program will focus heavily on wine, offering selections by-the-glass using Cruvinet, a technology that keeps wine air-tight and fresh after being opened.
The cocktail menu will remain traditional with a selection of martinis, old fashioneds, Manhattans. and more.
Soprano is open Tuesday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
