Met Her at a Bar — the brunchy sister concept to the Italian-infused Met Him at a Bar and Her Thai (all located on South La Brea Avenue and 8th Street in Midcity) — will soon gain a second outpost on Main Street in Santa Monica, according to a recent report by Eater LA

Founded by husband and wife team Vinny and Mindy Kinne who, if you hadn’t yet guessed, met each other at a bar in 2014, were engaged in 2016, and got married in 2019, Met Her (2017) is a lightly Thai-based breakfast and lunch joint that sits cutely across from its counterparts, Met Him and Her Thai.

The menu, which is as extensive as it is well-considered, toys with creative flavors like the Thai-style chicken and waffles featuring tom yum seasoning and crispy basil, while also offering a slew of more expectedly fresh & innovative items (see: a breakfast sandwich with chipotle aioli and a black bean avocado wrap). What’s more, Met Her proudly uses cage-free eggs, free-range chicken, organic bread, homemade jams, homemade dressings, and farmer’s market berries.

The concept’s expansion has been carefully contemplated by the Kinnes and they’ve intentionally held out against the urge to expand so as to maintain the high caliber of service and fare they’re known for in the neighborhood.

“We don’t want to expand too fast and the quality goes down,” Mindy says via Eater

The couple’s other two outposts, Met Him and Her Thai are cozy little joints offering pasta and authentic Thai, respectively.

Met Him, an ode to Vinny’s heritage, serves up homemade dishes from deep in the family recipe book, classic cocktails with a twist, and a thoughtful Italian wine list. Similarly, Her Thai provides generationally passed-down dishes inspired by Mindy’s upbringing eating and cooking with her own mother on the streets of Bangkok.
