Milana’s Brooklyn Squares, the sister concept to Downtown Long Beach’s Milana’s New York Pizzeria, will not be renewing its lease at 2000 Ximeno Ave. due to a 30% rent hike, Longbeachize reports. The lease is coming up in April.

“Landlords are acting like pimps—and they need to stop treating small businesses like hookers,” a disillusioned Adriel Fasci, owner of Milana’s, told Longbeachize.

According to Fasci, they have been a great tenant for the past five years and have consistently paid rent on time, even through the pandemic. “Their entire approach is wrong,” he continued.

Fasci is looking at spots from Long Beach Exchange to the Orange Curtain, but has not made a final decision yet. Until Brooklyn Squares finds a permanent home, the restaurant’s full menu of thick and thin pizzas, calzones, wings, heroes, salads, pastas and desserts will be available at the Downtown Long Beach pizzeria.
